At Last

Tue May 5, 2009, 4:02 AM
Yay, at last the wings are up and working! They open and close, and you can stop them at any point of movement, too, from a small switch. We have made a short film of them in operation, which I will attach a link to as soon as it is posted. It's taken us years of research and development, mostly done in our "spare" -hah!... time and whenever we could. We are now planning on making another three sets for a possible dance/aeriallist film. The next set will be for a stiltwalker, though, who will be coming for a fitting this week, so will post a pic of him in his white and rainbow wings as soon as they are on him.
It took me a minute or two to work out which trees I could walk in between with them fully extended........ that bit's not in the film. (But it is very funny.)
They're pretty comfortable, too. Much lighter than I thought they would be. Might have to wear lead boots if it gets really windy, though.....
Now to effect all the improvements we thought of while making this lot.
Wings made in collaboration with my partner.
Hope y'all like them

Hey I just found your Galler, I definatly adore your wings. I was working ona rig some time ago and wanted to do fabric feathers but the route I took did not turn out this well and I scrapped it. This has inspired me to try again. Thankyou!

Those wings are wonderful!

I was wondering what did you use for the frame of the wing?

I need to make some wings for my cosplay costume and those type of wings is what I was looking for.

howya! thankyou for your very kind comments. I am at present trying to create a business making these wings- have got website (see journal) but if I get enough orders, I am looking to create a future tutorial. Please don't be mad. I've worked as a labourer and done this in my spare time. I just want to be able to make a living fro it...It's taken six years . If it all takes off, promise to do a full tutorial. And thankyou for you support. X
I understand completely,

Let me know when you have some for sale.

Thanks
